One platform. Three ways to use it.

Choose the role Pixie plays in your firm.

You may need a better way to run client work, a connected accounting workspace, or a platform you can offer to your own clients. Start with that decision.

01

Organise your practice

CRM + practice management

Keep client records, engagements, responsibilities and follow-ups together. Configure the practice workflow around the services you deliver.

  • Client onboarding and service history
  • Recurring work, deadlines and review ownership
  • Documents, communication, time and billing
How the practice setup works
02

Connect your books

CRM + practice management + accounting

Add the Accounting & Bookkeeping workspace to connect operational records with the ledger, reconciliation and financial reporting.

  • Chart of accounts and transaction mappings
  • Bookkeeping, journals and reconciliation
  • Financial reports and review controls

03

Build your client offering · Bespoke

Your firm’s accounting software + CRM

Commission a nested client platform: your practice oversees agreed services while each client works in a controlled accounting and CRM workspace.

  • Client workspaces, branding and access rules
  • Firm review and client approval workflows
  • Agreed HMRC services and submission automation
How the bespoke platform works

A practice workflow uses configured CRM capabilities. Specialist practice modules, migrations, client platforms and filing connections are scoped to your requirements. Explore the specialist practice-management option.

01 / CRM & practice management

Run the work around every client.

A good client relationship depends on the details: who promised what, which records are missing, when a review is due and who owns the next step. Pixie puts that context alongside the work.

Use client records and configured tasks to organise onboarding, bookkeeping jobs, accounts preparation and other services. Assign preparation and review to the right people, and keep the evidence and correspondence easy to find.

A practical starting point

Keep your existing tax or bookkeeping software if it suits your firm. This option organises the practice; it does not, by itself, authorise HMRC filing.

02 / Add accounting & bookkeeping

Bring the books closer to the client work.

Pixie Accounting connects the day-to-day commercial records with a double-entry accounting workspace. The chart of accounts, mappings and review process determine how those records reach the books.

More than a list of invoices.

The documented accounting workspace covers the ledger, chart of accounts, transaction conversion, journals, transfers, supplier bills, banking and reconciliation. It also includes budgets, approval workflows, closing controls and reports.

Banking connections, optional modules and automation depend on the providers and configuration agreed for your workspace.

Set it up before relying on it.

Confirm the financial year, opening balances, account mappings and staff permissions. Reconcile sample transactions and have the responsible accounting professional review the results before using the workflow in production.

Follow the accounting setup checklist or read how practice management and accounting work together.

03 / A bespoke platform for your clients

Your practice can offer more than a portal.

Give clients a place to manage their own customer relationships and accounting work, connected to the services your firm provides. A bespoke Pixie deployment can bring client workspaces, your branding, firm oversight and agreed submission workflows into one service.

“Nested” means the practice and its clients have distinct working contexts. The implementation must define which records belong to each client, what their staff can do and what your firm is authorised to review or submit.

HMRC workflows, with clear responsibilities

Automate the process.
Keep the approval in view.

For a commissioned client platform, Pixie can scope digital records, preparation, validation and authorised submission workflows for the agreed HMRC services. Required client or agent approval remains part of the process.

  1. Digital recordsMaintain the required records and traceable digital links.
  2. Prepare & reviewCheck the obligation, source transactions and return version.
  3. ApproveCapture the required declaration and client/agent confirmation.
  4. SubmitUse the authorised, production-ready connection for that service.
  5. ConfirmCheck HMRC’s response, store the outcome and resolve exceptions.

VAT and Income Tax are different services.

VAT returns, Income Tax quarterly updates and annual tax returns have different requirements. A quarterly update is not an annual tax return. Support for one service does not establish support for all others.

Read the HMRC requirements guide ↗

Confirm the scope before committing.

We agree the tax services, supported connections, software and agent authorisations, client approval steps, security controls and production acceptance criteria before implementation. The standard demonstration does not establish live filing readiness.

HMRC compatibility is specific to the software, tax service and configured workflow. This page does not claim HMRC endorsement or universal filing coverage. See the official requirements.

See the right demonstration

A useful demo starts with your use case.

Tell us whether you want to organise your own practice, add bookkeeping or offer software to your clients. We can then show the relevant journey and discuss the next step.

Standard demonstration

See CRM, practice workflows and accounting.

The standard demo covers CRM, practice-management workflows and accounting modules. Use it to explore client records, team responsibilities and the accounting workspace.

It does not demonstrate your finished client platform or live HMRC submissions.

Accounting firms · Custom demonstration

See a journey designed for your firm.

A client platform needs a customised demo covering the proposed firm/client structure, access, review, approval and submission journey for your agreed requirements.

Bring your client types, current accounting tools, required tax services, branding needs and intended rollout. Bespoke work is quoted separately.

Request a custom demo & quote ↗Prepare your requirements ↗

For current standard software terms, see Pixie CRM pricing. Custom modules, integrations and client-platform delivery require an agreed quotation.

Before you decide

Clear answers for accountancy firms.

Explore the accounting Help Centre hub ↗
Is Pixie Accounting the same as practice management?

No. Practice management organises clients, services, deadlines and team work. Accounting maintains and reviews the financial records. Pixie lets you configure the practice workflow and add Accounting & Bookkeeping where it fits your requirements.

Can we start with CRM and keep our existing accounting software?

Yes. The first option focuses on client relationships and practice operations. Review any required data exchange separately through the integration directory and confirm provider access and configuration before relying on a connection.

Can our firm give clients their own accounting and CRM software?

That is the bespoke third option. We scope the client workspaces, branding, accounting model, firm oversight and any filing connections with you. It requires a custom demonstration and quotation, followed by testing of permissions and client isolation.

Does automation mean tax returns are filed without approval?

No. Automation can prepare, validate and transfer information, but required declarations, client approval and agent authority still apply. VAT submission requires confirmation, and each Income Tax step has its own requirements. Read the filing requirements.

What can we see in the standard demo?

CRM, practice-management workflows and accounting modules. Your firm’s client-platform design and HMRC submission journey need a customised demonstration. A demo or sandbox exercise is not a live tax submission.

How do we plan migration and rollout?

Start with the records and workflows you need, agree the account mappings and access model, and verify sample data before a wider move. Use the migration checklist and accounting setup checklist to structure the discussion.
