Define the business event before the endpoint
Describe the outcome you need: a qualified lead is created, a customer update reaches another system or a completed action starts the next workflow. Identify the source of truth, record identifiers and required fields. Agree which actions the connection is allowed to perform and how credentials are managed. Endpoint coverage, authentication methods and event support need to be confirmed against the available documentation and your proposed configuration.
Design the failure path with the successful one
Network failures, repeated events and invalid records are ordinary integration concerns. Decide how retries are limited, how duplicate processing is prevented and which errors require a person to intervene. Keep useful correlation references so staff can trace a transaction without storing unnecessary sensitive data in logs. Establish an owner for monitoring and for changes to the connected systems. Validate a representative exchange and its failure cases before relying on it in a live customer process.
