Choose the payment journey that fits the work
Start with the currencies, payment methods and countries you need to support. Agree whether customers pay a single invoice, an instalment or an ongoing subscription. The payment provider determines its own availability, processing charges and account requirements. A practical setup checks the customer-facing payment link, the return journey and the record created after a confirmed transaction, including how partial payments are represented.
Treat unusual outcomes as part of the design
Customers can abandon checkout, retry a payment or pay outside the connected provider. A payment can also be refunded or disputed later. Agree how those events reach the billing record and who investigates differences. Avoid treating a browser success page as the sole evidence of settlement. Reconciliation should consider the provider's confirmed event and the amount allocated to the invoice. Keep card data within the approved provider journey rather than collecting it in ordinary CRM notes.
