How to manage HMRC agent authority
For your Pixie CRM team: Follow the Agent Workspace workflow in Pixie CRM to manage hmrc agent authority.
Before you start
Required access: Manage tax agent settings; Manage HMRC connection. The module must be enabled and its installed version ready for your workspace. Select the intended taxpayer, authority and period before changing a record.
How to manage HMRC agent authority
- Review Agent identity & OAuth and store the correct agent ARN through the available profile control.
- For VAT enter the VAT registration date known to HMRC; choose Create VAT authorisation request.
- For Income Tax enter the client postcode known to HMRC and select Main agent or Supporting agent; create the authorisation request.
- Have the client complete the official HMRC authorisation journey. Use Refresh invitation and Check VAT relationship at HMRC or Check Income Tax relationship at HMRC.
- Inspect Stored HMRC relationships before selecting agent authority for filing. Use Cancel invitation or Deauthorise only for the intended relationship.
Controls and limits
- An invitation is not an accepted relationship. Agent OAuth and client authority are separate requirements.
- Cancelling an invitation and deauthorising an existing relationship are different actions.
Check the result
Reopen the affected record and confirm the taxpayer, period, saved values and status. For external actions, inspect the actual authority acknowledgement or settlement evidence; a local saved or queued state is not acceptance.
If you cannot continue
Read the displayed validation or readiness message. Check the module version, role, source scope, authority, period and current approval evidence. If another person changed the record, refresh and review the current version. Give support the screen, error wording and correlation reference; keep passwords, one-time codes and tax identifiers out of public messages.
