Compare saved Accounting budgets with actual ledger results using overview, variance and performance reports.
What you’ll accomplish
Compare saved Accounting budgets with actual ledger results using overview, variance and performance reports. It forms part of Pixie CRM Enterprise CRM's Accounting & Bookkeeping module and uses the module's permission-aware controller, status and mapping flow rather than a generic spreadsheet process.
How it works
The report controller provides Budget Overview, Profit & Loss Budget vs Actual and Profit & Loss Budget Performance endpoints.
Actual figures come from converted ledger transactions; incomplete conversion makes variance misleading.
The report is a management analysis tool. External budget reporting may require additional approval or presentation rules.
Follow these steps
- Go to Budget Overview and select the budget.
- Verify financial year and interval.
- Check values by account.
- Go to P&L Budget vs Actual.
- Investigate material variances in the General Ledger.
- Go to P&L Budget Performance for management review.
- Export or print with the selected filters recorded.
Settings to check
Check it worked
After the action is saved, Pixie CRM keeps the Accounting record connected to its source and updates the visible status or ledger data supported by this workflow. Review the saved result rather than relying only on a success message. Where the action posts accounting data, total debits and credits must balance and the accounts must match the approved mapping or manual selection.
- Open the saved record and confirm its final status.
- Review the source reference and every debit and credit line where ledger data was created.
- Use the relevant register, ageing, reconciliation or report to verify the wider effect.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Use the same accounting basis and date range.
- Do not compare actuals to a draft scenario unintentionally.
- Explain favourable and adverse variance consistently.
- Reconcile actuals before presenting results.
- Use the least destructive correction available and record the reason for material changes.
- Do not bypass a permission, approval or closed-period control by changing unrelated data.
