Understand quotation discounts, taxes and rounding
Check how quantity prices, a quote-wide discount and native product taxes produce the final total.

Before you start
Use your own authorised staff account in the intended Pixie CRM workspace. The Sales CRM module must be available and your role must include the permissions stated above. Existing leads, customers, communications and customer portal pages retain their normal access rules.
Follow these steps
- Check the quantity and unit price on each line. A displayed quantity-tier minimum explains why a special rate was selected.
- Multiply quantity by unit rate. Each line amount is rounded half-up to two decimal places, then included in the subtotal.
- Apply the quotation-wide discount percentage to the subtotal. The discount amount is rounded half-up to two decimal places.
- Review each tax group. Taxes use the applicable lines after the percentage discount; each named rate group is rounded to two decimal places.
- Confirm Total equals subtotal minus the discount amount plus the displayed tax groups.
Behavior and limits
- All monetary calculations use integer arithmetic. Quantities have at most three decimal places; prices, discounts and tax rates have at most two.
- Discount ranges from 0% to 100%. The same discount percentage applies before tax across all quoted products.
- Up to two distinct native item taxes can apply to a product. They are independent taxes, not compounded taxes. A repeated identical tax on the same product is counted once.
- Both subtotal and final total must be no more than 9999999.99 in the book currency. Tax rates outside 0–100% are rejected.
- There is no currency conversion, tax-jurisdiction selection, tax advice or automatic zero-/three-decimal currency convention. Confirm the configured two-decimal convention suits your business.
- Native Estimates can use a different rounding order for fractional quantities and multiple tax groups. Review the native document totals separately before sending; quote export does not automatically import or approve an estimate.
Check it worked
- For 10 units at 90.00 with 10% discount and 20% tax, expect subtotal 900.00, discount 90.00, tax 162.00 and total 972.00.
- Verify each product tax in the native catalogue if the quote tax breakdown is unexpected.
Troubleshooting
- A missing tax reference or unsupported tax name must be reviewed in the native catalogue by an authorised administrator.
- A one-minor-unit difference from another system may reflect rounding order. Use the displayed quote breakdown and check the customer-facing estimate independently.
- Currency symbols and thousands separators are not accepted in numeric input fields. Enter the plain decimal value.
