Create and edit sales deals
Record an opportunity with its commercial value, owner, expected close date and next step.
Where to goSales CRM → Deals → New deal, or open a deal → Edit details
Before you start
Use your own authorised staff account in the intended Pixie CRM workspace. The Sales CRM module must be available and your role must include the permissions stated above. Existing leads, customers, communications and customer portal pages retain their normal access rules.
Follow these steps
- Choose New deal and enter a clear opportunity name.
- Choose a pipeline and available stage. Select an owner and currency, enter the deal value and win probability, and set the expected close date.
- Choose Pipeline, Best case, Commit or Omitted from forecast. Add a specific next step and relevant notes.
- Complete any required custom fields. Optionally link a customer, lead and customer contact.
- Choose Create deal. Reopen the deal to check all saved values. To change it later, open Edit details and choose Save changes.
Behavior and limits
- Names allow up to 200 characters. Next step and loss reason allow 500; notes allow 10,000.
- Deal values must be non-negative, at most 99,999,999,999.99, and use no more than two decimal places. Probability is a whole number from 0 to 100.
- Dates must be valid and between 2000 and 2099. A missing close date excludes a deal from dated forecasts.
- Won requires a close date and fixes probability at 100%. Lost requires a loss reason and fixes probability at 0%.
- Changing details cancels a pending stage request so a reviewer cannot approve outdated information. A stale form is rejected instead of overwriting another edit.
- Repeated submission of the same creation request returns the original record. Start a new form when creating a different opportunity.
Check it worked
- Check the new record in both the selected stage and its detail view. Verify the currency and next step, not only the displayed amount.
Troubleshooting
- A controlled stage cannot be entered through Edit details. Save the information in the current stage, then use Move / request approval.
- If a linked record is unavailable to the selected owner, choose an eligible owner or remove that association; assigning a deal does not grant access to the linked record.
