Explore customer contact reporting maps

See a customer’s recorded reporting structure using existing contacts, with a focused map and a complete list.

Audience: authorised staffPermission: Sales CRM viewing access and current native access to the customerReviewed 30 October 2026
Where to goSales CRM → Relationships → Find customers → Open contact relationships

Before you start

Use your own authorised staff account in the intended Pixie CRM workspace. The Sales CRM module must be available and your role must include the permissions stated above. Existing leads, customers, communications and customer portal pages retain their normal access rules.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Relationships in Sales CRM.
  2. Enter an existing customer name and choose Find customers.
  3. Choose Open contact relationships on the intended customer. You can also choose View customer map from an opportunity with an accessible linked customer.
  4. Check whether the map is Active or Retired and whether any contact membership needs repair.
  5. Choose a contact from Focus on contact, or select a contact card, to see their recorded manager and direct reports.
  6. Choose List to review every included contact and reporting relationship.

Behavior and limits

  • The map references existing native contacts belonging to this customer. Viewing it does not create or edit customers, contacts or opportunities.
  • There is one reporting-map definition per customer in each workspace. Its recorded relationships are shared with staff who already have Sales CRM viewing access and native access to that customer.
  • A relationship is explicitly recorded by an authorised editor. It is not inferred from emails, job titles, seniority, influence or activity.
  • Reporting relationships do not grant CRM access, change account ownership, notify contacts or redirect communications.
  • A map may have multiple top-level contacts. No reporting manager recorded means the relationship is unknown or deliberately unset; it does not assert that the contact is the organisation’s most senior person.
  • The map may contain a selected subset of customer contacts. Its totals describe the contacts included in that map, not necessarily the whole customer organisation.
  • This feature records contact reporting relationships. It does not establish parent-company ownership, subsidiaries, internal staff permissions or forecast management hierarchy.

Check it worked

  • Confirm the customer name and map status before relying on a relationship.
  • Check the selected contact’s manager and direct-report labels.
  • Use List to confirm that the people you expect are included.

Troubleshooting

  • If no map exists, an authorised editor can create one from existing contacts.
  • If no customer appears, refine the search or check your current native customer access. Search returns at most 50 customers.
  • If a contact is unavailable, use the repair workflow rather than assuming the old relationship is still current.
  • If you cannot open a map from an opportunity, check that it has an accessible linked customer.
